Effective January 1st, 2024, all new utilities accounts in Lakewood Village and South Oak must receive monthly utility bills via email. The Town of Lakewood Village recognizes that certain residents may face hardships that prevent them from receiving electronic bills. To accommodate such situations, the Town may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
Exceptions to the electronic billing requirement may be granted under the following hardship scenarios:
- Lack of Internet Access: Residents who do not have reliable internet access or who live in areas with limited or no internet connectivity.
- Disability or Impairment: Residents with visual impairments, cognitive disabilities, or other conditions that make it difficult or impossible to use electronic devices or email.
- Senior Citizens: Elderly residents who are not comfortable with or capable of using email and electronic billing systems.
- Technological Limitations: Residents who do not own a computer, smartphone, or other device capable of receiving and viewing electronic bills.
- Financial Hardship: Residents who cannot afford the cost of internet service or electronic devices required to receive electronic bills.
- Temporary Circumstances: Residents who are temporarily unable to access their email due to circumstances such as hospitalization, long-term travel, or other personal situations.
To request an exception, residents must submit a written request to Linda detailing their specific hardship. The Town will review each request and make a determination based on the merits of the case and the supporting evidence provided.
